Sometimes life becomes dull and gray, and even the things you enjoy become mindless chores you do in order to further your career or personal life. At times like these, we need to stop thinking in the grand scale and instead focus on the smaller moments in life. The day-to-day musings and moments.
"Halcyon Nights" and "Ephemeral" were recorded as a response to the rut we had found ourselves in between 2015 and 2019 trying to release our previous album, "Hard Reset". Then, as the global pandemic of 2020 hit, we found ourselves separated for the greater part of the year.
Through the lockdowns and quarantines, we found ourselves trying to keep the momentum going by recording solo music individually, going as far as delivering recording equipment to one another once we were finished with it. In late 2020, we were able to meet in person again, which is when the song "Leap Year" happened. Everything in that song was recorded with the exact same equipment (guitar/bass strings, drum sticks/pads, etc.) in mostly the same configuration as the first two tracks, almost as though time hadn't passed between February and August at all.
It may be strange and disjointed at best, but this EP encapsulates our ephemeral day-to-day moments from 2020 in a way that we're happy to preserve for the future, and we hope that experiencing our music helps make your future just that little bit brighter too.
